About
Arthur is the principal of an independent school in Table View in Cape Town. His approach to primary education is progressive and he believes in integrating 21st century skills into the classroom.
Before moving to Table View at the end of 2010, Arthur served as the headmaster of a growing independent school in Worcester, in the Western Cape province of South Africa where he led the school through an era of development and change.
Arthur is also a founding member of EdTechConf – an organisation committed to coming alongside teacher and schools to assist them in the understanding of the role of technology in the classroom and in their professional development.
From 1998-2007 he served as the director of children’s ministries at Bryanston Methodist Church in Johannesburg leading the ministry from 80 children in attendance to over 800. It was during this time that he developed, in conjunction with the Willow Creek Association of Southern Africa, a network of professional children’s ministry leaders across South Africa. As part of this team he traveled regularly to Chicago in the United States for leadership development and training at the Willow Creek Community Church.
It was also during this time that Arthur traveled extensively around South Africa speaking in cities and small towns. He became a sought-after speaker for conferences, workshops and seminars on issues of children’s ministry, leadership development, change management and personal growth. This was both in the non-profit and commercial sectors. He was a track leader in the South African Christian Leadership Assembly gathering in 2003 in the field of Family and Children’s Ministry. It was also during this year that he was invited to address the Kids Treff conference in Zurich, Switzerland.
Prior to his move to Johannesburg, Arthur taught at Sun Valley Primary. It was here that his innovative approach to primary education began to be formed.
